TOP TEN COOLEST SHIN MEGAMI TENSEI DEMONS OF ALL-TIME

Any Monster Rancher fan could tell you that it's the mons that make the mons game, and of course Shin Megami Tensei has no shortage of nasty demons to fill the bill. With that in mind, let's celebrate some of the very best the series has to offer, when the guy who does the art went totally BEAST-MODE.

10. Mara (Persona 3 FES)

9. Odin (SMT4: Apocalypse)

It's almost hard believe how long it took for that goon in the diaper to get a face-lift, but we think it was worth the wait. The crow is kind of lame since it's just a bird, but otherwise this sleek design is just what the father of everyone's favorite character from the Marvel extended universe has always deserved. 

8. Moh Shuvuu (Demon Summoner Raidou)

Wow, is it just me or did is getting awfully cute in here all of a sudden? Shin Megami Tensei might be notorious for having so many boring bird monsters, but they're not all stinkers! A little girl demon is about as novel as it gets, so it's a shame we haven't seen any more in the series.

7. Ice Cream Come/Dubai (Devil Survivor 2)

If we're awarding points for originality, this guy takes the cake. Or should I say ice cream? Regardless, it's not every day you get to duke it out with everyone's favorite frozen treat!

6. Rastaman (Demon Summoner)

If we're awarding points for originality, this guy takes the case. A Rasta-themed serial killer with a belly like a bowl full of jelly? I don't think we're topping this guy anytime soon, but there are also five other entries on this list.

5. Satan (SMT4: Apocalypse)

Woah, our pal Satan really Took a A Level in Badass since the last time we saw him! Not only is this guy even more brutal and dark than Undead Rastaman himself, but his imposing figure really drives home the whole "Prince of Darkness" thing. Better late than never!

4. Alice (Persona 2)

Don't tell me you didn't see this one coming - this undead cutie (from the Tim Burton classic of the same name) is almost as recognizable as the series mascot himself (excluded from list for clerical reasons). Alice's mix of 

3. Sleeping Table (Persona 3)

Sleeping Table brings all the appeal and dynamism of a table to the table.

2. Dzolob (Demon Summoner)

With his icey stare and earthen skin, Dzolob is a design that simply oozes personality from every crack of his distinctly shaped head. 

1. Cool (DemiKids)

This guy's totally guay, if you ask me. (That's Spanish for "cool"). He's probably my favorite demon of all-time, and he'd always be in my party. Though, I have to wonder, why hasn't Cool been in any recent SMT games?
