Enjoying Shin Megami Tensei and hungry for more, maybe in everyone's other favorite medium? Well, that might seem tough at first, since the series has yet to receive any formal animated adaptations, but Megaten-Maniax has you covered on the next best thing. No algorithms here! Just hand-picked selections for SMT fans of all ages and types.
A Dark Rabbit Has Seven Lives:
If the Shin Megami Tensei franchise has left you craving for more of its signature mix of high school drama and supernatural kookiness, A Dark Rabbit Has Seven Lives may be just what you’ve been looking for. This bold series will take you through ordinary, regular guy protagonist Taito Kurogane and his encounter with Vampire (Most Ancient Sorcerer) Saitohimea that might just prove he’s not so ordinary after all!
11 Eyes: Tsumi to Batsu to Aganai no Shoujo
This one’s for all those big Persona 3 fans out there. 11eyes: Tsumi to Batsu to Aganai no Shojo is all about everyday teen Kakeru Satsuki and his adventures during the Red Night - a mysterious time of night during which ordinary folk disappear and monsters come out to play. Deja vu! But this bad boy is every bit as good, with all the dark, supernatural goodness and character development you’ve come to love. 11eyes? How about 11thumbs-up!
Oniichan no Koto Nanka Zenzen Suki Janain Dakara ne---- !
I’ll leave the details out, but let’s just say that fans of the series’ willingness to explore complicated social issues are sure to appreciate this overlooked gem. Humdrum high school student Shusuke Takanashi is in for the ride of his teenage life in this Studio Zexcs magnum opus, and we know you will be too! fucking god
Shin Megami Tensei: DeviChil
If you're looking for something Shin Megami Tensei-like, why not go straight to the source? Some may have even noticed that Shin Megami Tensei: DeviChil is really just a shortened form of Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Children - just think about all that time you'll save getting the word out! You really can't go wrong with this 52-episode mamma jamma, so buckle up and enjoy 18+ hours of family-friendly fun!
High School DxD
Demons, angels, reincarnation, teenagers? It's like I've fallen into a Shin Megami Tensei alternate universe! Follow regular teen Issei Hyodo as he dies and comes back again as a demon under the command of the mysterious and buxom Rias Gremory. That may sound familiar to you, and while it's not the most novel premise, just take it from Theron Martin of Anime News Network: "things like depth and originality are hardly necessary for a series like this to succeed. Take it for the trashy, sexy fare that it is and it likely won't disappoint." SIgn me up!
Doug
Since the allure and fuzzy nostalgia of navigating school-life is one of the most enjoyable parts of the series, this rec might seem a little obvious. But how could we just leave out this Crowning Series of Awesome? Those accustomed to the deep characterization of the franchise will appreciate Doug’s development as he pursues the affections of Patty Mayonnaise and navigates the twists and turns of school-life. Doug (ダグ), which the Japanese absolutely consider to be an anime as befitting of it's outstanding artistic merit, is truly the best reflection of Shin Megami Tensei’s appeal available.
high school dxd?? how about you go fuck yourself
